Columbine Families~

We have been busy planning for our successful year ahead and we look forward to welcoming our crew back on August 13th! Until then we have a few ways to support you and your child as they prepare for their next year in their educational journey. We are hosting 4 orientation sessions designed to provide all families with our school-wide systems. Even if you have been a part of this beautiful school community over the years, there are a few additions and refinements to the Columbine way and we aim to make sure you have all the information. Below is an outline of what our orientation will provide:

  • Parent/Scholar handbook with Family Agreement Compact
  • BVSD Transportation Policies and Family Agreement Compact
  • Safe Arrival and Departure Policies: Hug and Go/Horseshoe, Bike Protocol, Bus Procedures
  • Yearlong event dates!
  • Meal planning
  • Parent Portal training
  • Class Dojo sign up (school-wide communication system)
  • School Supply Fees/Lists
  • Class T-Shirts (for Spirit Fridays and Field Trips)

We hope to see you during one of these times:
Thursday August 7th 3:00-6:00 pm
Friday August 8th 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Monday August 11th 8:00-10:00/4:00-6:00

We are also in the middle of redesigning our website to ensure you have an easy click path to find up to date information! Until then, we will continue to post important information there!

Looking forward to a strong start to our year!

Platt students dive deep into climate policy, jobs and activism during day-long workshop

Only a couple weeks into the new semester, Boulder Valley School District students were already immersed in the challenges we face due to climate change and considering how they might take action.

During a special workshop, organized like a conference at Platt Middle School, groups of students from Platt, Centaurus and Fairview high schools moved from session to session over the course of a Thursday morning, learning about everything from climate-related careers and art to climate justice to the legislative process and how they can participate, by testifying.
