Assistant Principal / Subdirectora
Lisa Victoria Martinez - Assistant Principal
Lisa is a graduate of CU-Boulder, she earned her B.A. in Journalism – Mass Communications. She spent six years as K-12 Education Reporter and Immigration/Cultural Affairs Reporter for several Colorado newspapers. She won state awards for her in-depth reporting on racial profiling in Weld County, following the migrant path alongside families from México through the Sonoran desert in Arizona and the struggles of migrant work in this country. She found it to be rewarding to write about issues facing different minority groups – issues that were rarely publicized in the media - and speak for communities that were unable to speak for themselves.
Lisa returned to school at the University of Denver and received her teaching license and M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Linguistically Diverse Education.
Lisa loved her time in the classroom, and served as an elementary classroom teacher, ESL teacher and coach for 10 years, most of which were at a Title 1 school with large numbers of English Language Learners.
Lisa is now in her seventh year of school leadership, and has experience serving as both Assistant Principal and Principal. She aspires to be the leader who engages students, teachers and families, with the ultimate goal of student success!
Lisa loves to travel throughout Latin America, spending several months at a time in a country, and has passed that interest down to her grown daughter, who enjoys the Spanish language and culture just as much as she does.
